Linda
Dorie
Both characters are residents of Cedar Meadows Retirement Home. Their husbands have passed. They are well enough acquainted that they drop in and out with comfort.
Setting:
The kitchen of Linda’s suite in the Cedar Meadows Retirement Home. There is a kitchen table downstage.
At Rise:
Dorie comes into Linda’s kitchen. She is carrying mail. She calls out to Linda who is offstage Left.
DORIE: Linda. I’m here. Linda
LINDA: (from offstage) Come on in Dorie. I’m just out of the shower.
DORIE: I brought your mail.
LINDA: Coffee’s on. I’ll be right there.
DORIE: How was the week with the grandkids?
LINDA: Great. Spent two days at the museum. (appears SL in robe and drying hair) It’s always so fascinating to see what catches their attention. (disappears) And then we did a couple of hikes. Anything interesting?
DORIE: It’s raining.
LINDA: (Laughing) I mean in the mail.
