We, the members of the Writers’ Nook, are delivering a series of informative presentations by writers, for writers via ZOOM technology.
You are hereby cordially invited to attend a presentation by Jenelle Mitchell, poet on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 12:00 NOON via ZOOM.
In her career, Jenelle was a teacher and language arts consultant in Edmonton Public Schools. As a consultant her area of expertise was teaching writing to students and therefore, teaching teachers about writing instruction.
She says, “In this presentation, I will share the ways in which I read, write and share poetry. I write personal poetry which I will explain and illustrate with the following poetry introduction:
I am from West Texas
With long gravel roads and barbed wire fences,
irrigation canals and cottonwood trees,
rows of cotton and acres of alfalfa,
cotton bales and hay bales
stacked for the rails.
. . . .
I’m from fried catfish and cornbread,
biscuits and gravy, fried okra,
and Mexican food.
From land rich and cash poor,
and living in the bosom of Abraham
With “Amazing Grace.”’
The presentation will last approximately one hour. There is no charge. If you are interested in attending please contact us.
