The Writers’ Nook is a place where we, as a group, can provide a safe and positive environment in which to encourage one another and hone our own writing skills.
This is the initial meeting for the 2019–2020 Season. The Hot Topic today is, What is the Difference between Story and Plot, and does it really matter? Read the handout.
Our challenge for the next meeting is to write a short piece. The Story is about, “A protagonist who leaves their everyday life to do something important.” Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to write The Plot or Story-line as it is sometimes called. See the initial handout link below for information about Story and Plot. If you prefer to share some of your other work instead, that’s okay too. We look forward to reading it.
Please send the pdf file of your work to me by Tuesday 15th so our Nook friends can read it and prepare to comment.
Another interesting fact, we are planning a Book Club Meeting for the last meeting before Christmas Break. The book we will be discussing is, Medicine Walk by Richard Waganese. You can borrow a copy from the library, buy a used copy at a second hand bookstore, or borrow a copy from a friend.
Our Challenge is to write the Plot for a Story which is about, “A protagonist who leaves their everyday life to do something important.” If you are confused, you’re not the only one. A Plot is basically what we normally refer to as “the whole story.” Alternatively, feel free to send anything else that you have written and would like to share with us.
OUR WRITINGS that were submitted prior to this meeting, with no theme in mind:
‘Tis A Puzzle by Dulcie Enns
Eleven by Dulcie Enns
Choices, Chapter 6 by Ernie Briginshaw
Auxillio Semper by Andrew Armstrong
Polishing Mother’s Dreams by Joyce Adrian Sotski
