John Chwartkowski
(1941–2010)

John passed away peacefully after a short stay in Lion's Gate Hospital following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is missed and lovingly remembered by Grace, his wife of 45 years; his sisters, Stella (Peter Shein) and Angie (Stu Rogers); his nieces and nephews, Gordon, Elaine and Danny, Denise and Sandy, Cheryl and Ray, and their families; his Aunt Casey (Chudy); stepbrothers, Barrie and Eugene; many cousins; and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Lorna and brother-in-law, Melvin and their families. John was pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary; his brother, Bronnie; and his step-mother, Rose.

The family gathered together on April 9, 2011 to share in a Celebration of John's Life when we cruised from Granville Island into the waters of Burrard Inlet where we released his ashes to the care of the waves and winds as John had requested. A memorial bench with his name has been placed at one of his favorite places, the Prospect Point Picnic Site in Stanley Park.
