Abram A. Klassen
(1925–2010)
Abram A. Klassen (wife Verna) formerly of Laird, SK passed away at Saskatoon Extendicare Home on the morning of Sunday October 10, 2010 at the age of 85 years. Friends and relatives are invited to a viewing at Martens Warman Funeral Home, 402 Central St. West, Warman, SK on Friday October 15, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Interment will take place at the Warman Cemetery on Saturday October 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 PM at Mount Royal Mennonite Church, 610 Avenue O North, Sasktaoon.
Abe was born to Abraham and Helena Klassen at Laird, SK on September 20, 1925. On June 19, 1950 he married Verna Regier and together they raised a family of five children. Early married years were spent on the farm at Laird and in 1964 the family moved to Saskatoon where Abe worked as a carpenter and construction foreman. Abe enjoyed spending time with family and friends hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. He also enjoyed music and games.
Following retirement Abe and Verna enjoyed a number of winters traveling to Arizona, square dancing, playng shuffle board and handifcrafts. Many have enjoyed Abe's sense of humour and quick wit. Abe was active in his church and his faith in God was evident in how he lived his life. He will be sadly missed.
Abe is predeceased by his parents Abraham and Helena Klassen and seven siblings. He is survived by his loving wife Verna, five children Marlon (Peggy) Klassen, Regina; Majel (Rob) Vye, Ottawa, ON; Lorne (Cathy) Klassen, Saskatoon; Garry (Shari) Klassen, Saskatoon and Stanley (Shari) Klassen, Toronto, ON; 12 grandchildren and a number of siblings and in-laws. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or The Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (934-4888).
