The Homestead of Abraham Klassen

Below is a picture I took at the Klassen homestead 08/03/07. It was a lot of fun finding this plot of land with my folks using the information and maps we got from the land office. It became even more exciting when we drove down an little used road and found this collapsing log structure on the land. It really makes you realize the isolation of those early pioneers on the prairie and I try to imagine what it was like for Grandpa and his bride to live there. I think this is also where Aunt Helen must have been born. We couldn't get too close to it due to the weeds. None the less, seeing this and standing on the site made for a very satisfying connection to our family history of almost 100 years ago.
