Abraham Klassen

The story about Anganetha falling into the water when the Ox wanted a drink.
by Issac Klassen

Abraham Klassen took his new bride Anganetha to his homestead west of the North Saskatchewan river. After a lonely winter when they couldn't go visit her family, Anganetha was homesick. So when spring came Abraham hitched his ox and horse to a wagon and they set out to visit her family near Waldheim. On their way home, when they came to the slough north of the Carman district, the ox was thirsty. He pushed the horse over into the water and then, as short-legged oxen do, he knelt down to take a drink. This tilted the wagon until it upset and Abraham's young wife landed in the water.
