ANGANETHA BERGEN married ABRAHAM KLASSEN, son of JAKOB KLASSEN and KATHARINA NEUFELD on 7 June 1908 in Waldheim, SK. ABRAHAM was born on 15 Dec 1883 in Gruenfeld, South Russia, died on 30 Dec 1973 in Rosthern, SK and was buried in Tiefengrund (Laird), SK at age 90.

ABRAHAM KLASSEN next married HELENA BERGEN on 28 Oct 1919 in Waldheim, SK.

2. HELENA BERGEN was born on Oct 2, 1898 in Waldheim, SK, died on Jan 15, 1997 in Rosthern, SK and was buried in Tiefengrund, (Laird) SK at age 98.

PETER A BERGEN married ANGANETHA DYCK on 24 Sept 1880. Peter operated a store in Altona, MB before moving to a farmstead 14 miles West of Rosthern, SK.

ANGANETHA DYCK next married Gerhard G. Baerg on 29 Aug 1909. Gerhard was born 18 Jan 1874 in Minnesota, died 9 Aug 1963 in Waldheim, SK and was buried at the Waldheim Cemetary, Waldheim, SK. at age 89.

5. PETER A. BERGEN'S father, ABRAHAM BERGEN, was born 2 Feb 1815 in Old Colony and died 14 Jan 1865 in Bergthal Col. South Russia at age 50.

6. PETER A. BERGEN'S mother, MAGARETHA BERGENwas born in 1831 in Osterwick and died 2 Feb 1913 in West Reserve, MB at age 82.

ABRAHAM BERGEN married Magaretha Thiesen on 20 Aug 1836. Magaretha was born in 1817 and died on 5 May 1850 at age 33. Abraham was elected as Deacon in 1840, the year they moved from the Old Colony to the Bergthal Colony in South Russia, a distance of 200 miles. On 11 Nov 1843 he was elected to the ministry in the Bergthal Church, South Russia.

iv. Elisabeth Bergen was born 24 July 1845 in Russia and died 18 July 1917 in Manitoba at age 72. Elizabeth married the widower Jacob Rempel (1844–1895) and then married the widower Johann Peters (___–1911).

v. Maria Bergen was born 12 Dec 1847 in Russia and died 28 Jan 1848 in Russia, at 1 month of age.

vi. Isaak Bergen was born 16 Dec 1848 in Russia and died 24 Dec 1848 in Russia, at 8 days of age.

ix. Heinrich Bergen was born 2 Feb 1853 in Russia and died 4 Sept 1926 in Rosthern, SK. at age 73. Heinrich married Maria Giesbrecht (1856–1876). Heinrich next married Katharina Reimer (1854–1897) and then Helena Fehr-Martens (1873–1961).

x. Isaak Bergen was born 4 June 1854 in Bergthal Col., Russia and died 18 Aug 1922 in Altona, MN. at age 68. Isaak married Helena Reimer (1854–1933).

xi. Jakob Bergen was born 18 Nov 1855 in Heubuden, Bergthal Col, Russia and died 13 Jan 1945 in Altona, MN. at age 89. Jakob married Susanna Janzen (1875–1940)

xii. PETER BERGEN was born 5 Mar 1857 in Bergthal Col, Russia, died in 1905 and was buried in Eigenheim Cemetary, Rosthern, SK at age 48. He married Aganetha Dyck on 24 Sept 1880. Aganetha was born 14 Nov 1859 in Russia, died 29 Dec 1942 in Waldheim, SK and is buried in the Waldheim Cemetary, Waldheim, SK. After his death Aganetha married Gerhard G. Baerg Aug 29, 1909. Gerhard was born 18 Jan 1874 in Minnesota, died 9 Aug 1963 in Waldheim, SK and was buried in the Waldheim Cemetry, Waldheim, SK. at age 89. Many of us fondly remember him as "Great Grandpa — with the beard".

xiii. Katharina Bergen was born 18 Dec 1858 in Russia and died 12 Apr 1871 in Russia at age 13.

xiv. Cornelius Bergen was born 27 Oct 1860 in Bergthal Col., Russia and died 18 June 1950 in Horse Lake, SK. at age 90. Cornelius married Aganetha Funk (1866–1904), and then Helena Peters-Bergen (1860–1921).

xv. Maria Bergen was born 14 May 1863 in Russia and died 1868 in Russia at age 5.

ABRAHAM BERGEN died 14 Jan 1865. MAGARETHA BERGEN next married Abraham Neufeld on 5 June 1865. Abraham was a widower who'd had 8 children, of which 3 were still living. Abraham Neufeld was born on 19 Feb 1830 and died on 4 May 1877 on the East Reserve, MB at age 47.

Helena Neufeld was born on 19 May 1866 in Heubuden, Russia and died 20 Nov 1966 at the age of 100. She married Cornelius Fehr (1861–1940) and lived at Neuanlage, SK.

Sara Neufeld was born on 28 Jan 1868 in Heubuden, Russia and died the same day, 28 Jan 1868.

Johann A. Neufeld was born 14 Aug 1869 in Heubuden, Russia and died 4 Jan 1950 at age 81. Johann married Maria Kroeker (1870–____). They lived in RM of Rhineland, Manitoba for about 20 yrs, then moved to Lost River, SK. In 1927 they moved to Paraguay, where he was buried in 1950. 

Gerhard Neufeld was born 3 Jan 1872 in Heubuden, Russia and died 8 Mar 1873, at 14 months of age.

Katharina Neufeld was born 3 May 1873 in Heubuden, Russia and died 25 Feb 1875 at age 2.

Susanna Neufeld was born 3 June 1874 in Heubuden, Russia and died 16 July 1875, at 13 months of age — at sea.

In 1875 Magaretha (Bergen) and Abraham Neufeld with their combined living children, including the newly wedded brides of two of Magartha's children by her first marriage, immigrated to Manitoba. They sailed aboard the Peruvian ocean steamship of the Allan Line with R.S. Wall, Master, having food for 700 adults for 37 days. Along with many other Mennonite Immigrants they left Liverpool, England on July 1st and arrived in Quebec City on July 13th, 1875. Among those aboard were:

When they arrived, they settled on the East Reserve, MB. Two years later on May 4, 1877 Abraham Neufeld died, and was buried at the East Reserve.

The East Reserve is a large parcel of land in Manitoba, East of the Red River given for settlement to the first Mennonite immigrants to Manitoba. The second group of Mennonites settled on the West Reserve, which was West of the Red River. Many or most of these immigrants arrived at Deluth, Minn. by boat via the St. Lawrence River and Great Lakes, coming from Quebec. From Deluth they took a train to Grand Fork, ND, and then a paddlewheel boat north into Manitoba. The first group of Mennonites disembarked at the junction of the Red and Rat Rivers, but the later ones disembarked near Gretna, just across the border into Manitoba.

By 1880 Magaretha and her children moved to the West Reserve. MAGARETHA next married Cornelius Fehr in April 1882. Cornelius was a widower with 6 children. Cornelius Fehr was born 9 Oct 1836 and died 2 Aug 1909 at age 73. Magaretha lived until 2 Feb 1913 and was buried in the West Reserve, MB at age 82.

THE DYCKS

7. ANGANETHA DYCK'S father, ISAAK DYCK, was born in 1832 in South Russia and died in 1889 in Manitoba at age 57.

8. ANGANETHA DYCK'S mother, KATARINA KAUENHOWEN was born in 1822 in South Russia and died in 1895 in Manitoba at age 73.

ISAAK DYCK married KATARIN KAUENHOWEN.

9. ABRAHAM BERGEN'S father, ABRAHAM BERGEN, was born in 1786 in W. Prussia and died in Old Colony, S. Russia.

10. ABRAHAM BERGEN'S mother, THIESSEN was born in 1782 in W. Prussia and died in 1867 in Schoenhorst at age 85. At the time of her death she'd had eleven children 60 grandchildren (22 had died), and 46 great-grandchildren (10 had died).

vi. Johann Bergen was born 2 May 1830 and died 1837 at age 7.
