Happy Bag

Surviving COVID Isolation
Poetry by Shirley Pilcher
Salmon Arm, BC

I could write a poem about the blues,
But today that is not what I choose.
So let’s do ‘happy’ — let’s dream big!
I’ll get out my ‘happy’ bag and dig and dig and dig.
First I found a happy smile, then a pretty flower;
then I sat to rest awhile, dreamt of a lovely spring shower.
Into my ‘happy’ bag I dig once more,
There I found a dear old friend walking in my door.
I must not dig too deep, for I have a lot of ‘happy’ that I choose to keep.
But another day I have chased the blues away!
