Small Task

There they are! I finally found the new batteries I bought last week. Why didn’t I put them in the box I keep especially for that? I can only guess that it’s because I had planned to use them soon. So I thought, last week.

At this time of isolation for COVID 19 I’ve become such a sloth. Not only does it take me longer to get from the start to the completion of a task but I also take steps away from the task entirely. That would be slow steps of course.

Battery pack in hand, this sloth now decides to grab that gadget that shows just how much of a charge there is left in the batteries. A few steps away from the table I notice a sad looking greenery by the phone. My lipstick plant! I better give it some water while I’m nearby. It will only take a few minutes… What was I doing again? Oh that gadget! Now ready, I press all the right buttons to get to the info I’m looking for. One battery is as juiceless as can be, showing 0% of a charge. But that second battery indicates that there is 20%. Really? Strange. It can only mean that the Pink Bunny from the Energizer Company doesn’t get to control its employees as they zap lithium in the empty zinc tubes… One of mine is a few drops short.

What am I expected to do now? I take pride in changing the battery from both units at the same time.

I decide to discard one but to keep the other. What if I find myself completely out of batteries and COVID 19 forces me to quarantine! I’d be happy to have one with 20% of life left! I‘ll grab a small jar. I shall label that jar ND. Not dead.

Back to square one, I take the new batteries out to get the job done.

Well, listen to that. The song Macarena is playing. Life has much more rhythm now that I wear hearing aids!
