EXCERPT
The isolation we are living with is psychologically devastating for many. In an effort to negotiate this new normal and not fall into the trap of desolation, I vowed to make productive use of this new lifestyle and at minimum develop a new hobby, skill or activity. In ‘Painting’, I recount the story of my first experience trying to paint with watercolours. The day that I spent on the verandah was one of my most memorable of this troublesome pandemic. My work will not hang in a gallery someday, I am sure of it. I will neither achieve status posthumously as an artist or ever be considered as an individual contributing to a collection of work produced by any Group of any Number of painters. It was one of the most enjoyable days that I have passed in some time however. It allowed me to forget the chaos in the world and my fears for those I love for a time.
