Salmon Arm, BC
Today I am making my plants comfortable.
Like a stamp collector forever mounting the same stamps
I will rearrange their pots and saucers in a more colourful display
So they can catch the fleeting sunlight
As it dances briefly across the room.
Like a cat, I will lick my lips of drips of coffee, fat with cream,
And dream of eagles and seagulls
Circling above the lake like marshalls of the sky
Only to be jackknifed back from my reverie
By the dog nibbling at my fingertips.
