March-2020.
Something egregious was about to happen on a scale that would shut down the world. COVID-19. How we handled it was as diverse as the billions of people on planet earth.
I had to self-isolate. I tried to focus on the positive and humorous aspects that life has.
My husband was left with the onerous task of leaving the safety of our home to do the shopping. He is very good at shopping. Some of the items that were bought were should I say different. Into our home came maple-favoured marshmallows, cheese flavored chicken wieners and decaffeinated tea. He had three places to shop the grocery, drug and liquor store. As long as the supplies came in I never complained. Then came the dogs parading down the sidewalk with their humans in tow. Their humans could not work as business’s shut down and nobody was allowed to travel so dogs got walked a lot.
When words were said who wants to go for a car ride I usually raced our dog to the door. My weekly excitement car rides; I got to sit in the car in the parking lot! I saw all kinds of inventive ways people wore their facemask. Worn under the chin, on the forehead, on the top of the head or hanging off an ear. Many colours of gloves worn, medical ones, yellow and pink kitchen ones. Some ladies liked to drive with masks and gloves on.
Self-isolation for me meant video calls from my out of town specialists, bonus no travelling. Setting up appointments for prescriptions over the phone. I could get use to this way to “visit” the Dr.
This too shall pass and hopefully we will come out the other side understanding what calmness, kindness and being safe is all about.
My time in Self Isolation,

What a realistic view you paint of adaptation, without losing our sense of humour! Yes, folks are finding ways, apart from the instruction manual, to wear face masks!
