A Synopsis
The following two stories are part of a larger novel that I have been working on for a few years. During the isolation required by the Covid pandemic I have rewritten Chapter Five – The Bunkhouse and Chapter Six – Kathy.
The title of my book is ‘A Chilcotin Adventure’ and is a story is about a confused and unhappy construction contractor trying to find an answer to his personal problems, his family life and his career. He finds himself out of work and one solution to help with the family finances is to take an out of town job in the Chilcotin in the middle of winter. This particular job brings adventure, excitement, disappointment, enlightenment, satisfaction, beauty and experience quite different from the stressed out life in the Lower Mainland. The Bunkhouse is one such adventure and delves into the life of a construction worker at an isolated jobsite. Chapter 6 – Kathy, follows The Bunkhouse and provides our hero with a love interest.
These stories are written with humour and enlightenment and glimpses into the world of a construction worker. I’ve used crude language at times and presented social ideas that may not be proper in our day and age. They are based on actual experiences with the characters enhanced and painted in a more colourful light.
