The Writers’ Nook is a place where we, as a group, can provide a safe and positive environment in which to encourage one another and hone our own writing skills.
Our Theme for this meeting is Internal dialogue, inner monologue. Download the handout for this meeting, which includes the next Challenge. Below are some photographs just crying out for an inner voice; use them for inspiration if you wish. If you prefer, you may send some writing of your own choice. Please send me a pdf copy of your submission as soon as you can so I can post it. We need to give our members an opportunity to read it before they come to the following meeting, on March 11th, prepared to discuss.

PREVIOUS MEETING: February 11
OUR WRITINGS to be submitted to Joyce as a pdf file as soon as possible, preferably before February 9th. You may send any of your writing or respond to the Challenge below.
Our Challenge: Write a story or poem about anything that uses symbols. (One potential scenario: a man, or woman, is driving home from an event. It’s an emotional drive because she’s just found out that a significant old girlfriend/boyfriend whom she hasn’t seen for 30 or 40 years has passed away, unexpectedly, two years ago, and she’s only now found out.) Come to the meeting prepared to talk about the symbolism you chose to use in case people didn’t pick up on them. Please send a pdf copy.
A Scene That Uses Symbolism from “The Back Nine” by Ernie Briginshaw.
Dem Bones, Oh Dem Bones Homework assignment by Shirley DeKelver.
From the depths of the forest by Joyce Adrian Sotski.
Parades are for cheering by Dulcie Enns.
