The Writers’ Nook is a place where we, as a group, can provide a safe and positive environment in which to encourage one another and hone our own writing skills.
Finding the Nuggets
We’ve covered several topics since we started up in the fall, metaphors, emotions, character development, mood, atmosphere — and then there’s so many others that we can talk about like rhythm, creativity, different points of view, etc. Let’s call these nuggets! At this next meeting we’re going to go digging for gold nuggets in our writing! We’re going to try identifying these little noteworthy pieces of writing in one another’s work.
Please bring to this meeting something that you have written to share with us. We will read it aloud to one another. It should be short, like less than a page, or just a small portion of something you’ve written. Please bring six copies of it, so we can all look at the same writing at the same time. And don’t forget to bring a pencil and your notebook for writing in.
If you’re looking for more information about the Writers’ Nook, just contact us here.
The Handout
There is no handout for this meeting, but another look at last meeting’s Handout might be useful to assist in our discussion at this one. If you still have a copy of it why not bring it with you to the meeting, either on paper or on your tablet or laptop.
The Challenge
Your challenge to complete before our next meeting on January 28th; will be posted here soon…
When you are finished responding to this challenge, please send it to me so I can post it below for others to read, for feedback.
