The Writers’ Nook is a place where we, as a group, can provide a safe and positive environment in which to encourage one another and hone our own writing skills.
The Creative Journey
Creativity involves building a practice of playing, experimenting, learning, growing, failing and winning. This takes time; and there are perils along the way. The perils may be self doubt, not knowing, fear, inner criticism, second guessing, overthinking, procrastination, and even avoidance. But the good news is that guides show up.
And the guides help you. You build a world of like-minded people around you and they are here to help you believe in yourself, to take those risks and to do your deepest work — whether it be in art or living our lives or going on a creative expedition.
Sharing
This is where we share a page or so from a book we’re currently reading, to shed more light on the topic at hand, mood and atmosphere.
The Challenge
Your challenge before our next meeting on January 25th is to do a little soul searching with pencil or keyboard in-hand. Ask yourself questions like, where do you want to go or where has your Creative Journey taken you thus far? What types of creative spaces or endeavours have you found yourself in? Do they inform one another? Is there a link? Look at your own creative journey and ask yourself questions about it, and answer them too if you can. If you wish to share your insights about your own creative journey, we’d be honoured and will post them.
Or, write a story, poem, or essay of your choice.
